Anyone who knows what happens when you donate to a campaign knows that after you do, they inundate you with solicitations for more funds. Often, these solicitations find their way to my shredder. Today, however, I got one that gave me pause. Peeking out from the clear window of a Marco Rubio campaign mailer was a crisp dollar bill. Check it out:
I’m sending you this $1 in the mail today because I need your immediate help.
You see, in the last two weeks since Governor Charlie Crist abandoned the Republican Party and filed to run as an independent for the US Senate, new public opinion polling has started to come in from everywhere.
The surveys I’ve seen show that we beat Governor Charlie Crist in the Republican Primary by roughly a 30-point margin!
I definitely praise Marco for his creativity. The end of the mailer instructs you to send the $1 bill back.
I, however, would have taken a different approach. I would have said “If Charlie Crist gets elected, please feel free to use this $1 bill as toilet paper.”
He could also have used this mailer to point out that Charlie Crist has decided not to return campaign funds that he received while running as a Republican. Something he made very clear today.
